Many vintage watches are sold on Ebay, where they tend to command a price lower than that which a dealer would sell them for – however, by cutting out the middle-man, a private seller would probably get more than a dealer would buy for.

To get the best price, join a couple of watch forums on the internet and get involved. Most have a sales corner where good examples from trusted sellers make the most cash for a private seller.

A lot is dependent on the condition of the watches – anything which is in dire need of a service or restoration will plummet in price, whereas a decent usable example should fetch more. prices have been affected by the credit crunch, but vintage 50′s Seamasters tend to fetch between £100 and £300 here in the UK and similar $ equivalents in the US
