How can I tell if the Tag Heuer I bought is real?

Jay asked:

I bought a Tag Heuer on eBay. It is of the professional 2000 series. How can I confirm it’s authenticity? My brother has the same model, is there something I should look for in comparison? Is there a way I can tell? or do I need to take it to a jeweller or something?

If it looks the same, then does it matter?
If it really is so immaculate that it is almost impossible to tell whether it is a fake then it doesn’t matter too much does it?

First, if you got a big discount on a Tag, its a fake. If you need to be be sure, bring it to a jeweler and they will either know immediately, or can check the serial number.

And it does matter, because fakes generally break.

What is going on with these answers? Only one person gave you a correct answer. If you purchased this watch at a drastic reduction, then it is probably fake. If you paid quite a bit for it, take it to a jeweler to find out if it is authentic. We have several jewelers here who deal with Tag Heuer and other expensive watches, so look in the yellow pages and find one.

By the way, if it does turn out to be fake, I believe that there is a complaint form that you can fill out on Ebay to get your refund. In the future, be VERY wary of what you buy from Ebay. There are many very authentic looking counterfeits out there and tons of people get scammed every day. Take the guess work out of it and buy it from an authorized retailer.
