Buying a Swiss watch?

by Admin on September 8, 2010

This question is addressed to all who are familiar with the proper Swiss watchmakers. (of course not Rolex, Tag, Breitling or similar JUNK) I am 18 years old, and I would like to buy a proper Swiss watch. When I mean proper, I mean IWC, Patek, Vacheron, Breget, Zenith etc. I would like that watch to be something between classic and sporty. Not too serious, but not too sporty. The suitable price range would be like 4000-10000 USD. As I went through the whole IWC catalog, I found one Portuguese (ref: iw3714-01) that I really liked. I am familiar with this range as my father has a more classic one, but I really like this one. Also, I was considering the Zenith 36’000 VPH (ref:03.2041.400/51.C496) which is a really good watch. What do you people think?

i can’t agree that Rolex, Tag or Breitling are junk, maybe not to your taste, but they produce some very good watches. I like IWC a lot too, the 3714 is a very good-looking watch and would get my vote over the Zenith.
